Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frances Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Bergen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Bergen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frances Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Bergen!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bergen.
Colon thinks about countering with a head kick.

Colon shoots in and gets a takedown into Bergen's guard.
Colon wants to stand but Bergen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Colon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bergen is trying to control the position but Colon postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bergen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Colon off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Colon counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Colon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bergen defends well and Colon ends up having to push Bergen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bergen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Colon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bergen pulls his head out easily.
Colon is looking to control Bergen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Colon avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bergen tries to sprawl but Colon drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Bergen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Colon is working away from the top position though.
Bergen is trying to stand up here but Colon is controlling him well.

Colon stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Bergen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Colon did well to prevent Bergen getting side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bergen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Colon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bergen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bergen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Colon sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bergen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Colon keeps working.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Colon wants to control but Bergen postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Bergen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

and Colon counters with an outside leg kick.

Colon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bergen defends well.

Bergen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bergen tries to free his leg and advance position but Colon is retaining full guard.

Colon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bergen defends it easily.

James Bergen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Colon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Colon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Colon throws a quick counter head kick but Bergen was just out of range.
Colon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Colon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bergen's waist but Bergen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Colon off to one side.
Frances Colon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
James Bergen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frances Colon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
