Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koo Poon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sal Wertviy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poon is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sal Wertviy! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poon scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Poon is breathing heavily. Wertviy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Poon is trying to defend but Wertviy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Wertviy lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Wertviy frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Wertviy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Poon looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Wertviy scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Poon?

Wertviy is landing with some decent strikes but Poon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Wertviy controlling from the full mount. Wertviy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Wertviy lands a big shot there that rocks Poon but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Wertviy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wertviy controlling from mount. BOOM! Wertviy connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The fighters circling - Poon throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wertviy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wertviy stands up and we're back to a striking position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Some wild striking there from Wertviy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wertviy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Poon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Wertviy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Poor timing from Wertviy. Poon appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Wertviy takes the fight into the clinch. Wertviy has hold of one of Poon's legs. Poon is fighting the takedown attempt but Wertviy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Wertviy stays in close to Poon's body and controls the position. Wertviy has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The adventures of Wertviy the control monster continue. Boring. Wertviy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Poon can't keep his opponent in guard - Wertviy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Poon has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Wertviy escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Wertviy! A lull in the action here as Wertviy stalls from top position.

Wertviy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Wertviy scores with punches from side control.

Wertviy just content to control the position. Wertviy works to advance to full mount. Poon defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Wertviy has hold of Poon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Poon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Wertviy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Wertviy is taking a breather. Poon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Wertviy scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Wertviy controlling the pace. Wertviy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Wertviy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Poon looks a forlorn figure.
