Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Rodelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodelin shoots in but no luck this time.
Gonzalez steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rodelin.
Gonzalez throws a right and a left that Rodelin avoids nicely.
Rodelin changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Rodelin tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzalez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rodelin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gonzalez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rodelin somewhat.
Gonzalez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodelin avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodelin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Rodelin trying to mount his opponent but Gonzalez defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodelin is thwarting Gonzalez's attempts to control the position.
Rodelin is looking to take a break and control but Gonzalez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rodelin is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gonzalez tries to roll over but Rodelin keeps him under control.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Gonzalez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Gonzalez lands a right hand.

Gonzalez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rodelin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gonzalez pinned against the cage. Gonzalez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Rodelin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gonzalez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Gonzalez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Brian Rodelin has been cut.
Rodelin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Rodelin drives through with a takedown into Gonzalez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rodelin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rodelin gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Rodelin goes for a double leg but Gonzalez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gonzalez continues to drive forward.
Rodelin walks into a jab.
Gonzalez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rodelin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Gonzalez counters by clinching up.

Rodelin fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Rodelin wants to take the fight to the mat but Gonzalez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gonzalez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rodelin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Gonzalez manages to break the clinch.

Gonzalez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rodelin sprawls well initially but Gonzalez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzalez is trying to control. Rodelin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rodelin wants to get back to full guard.
Rodelin preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Rodelin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gonzalez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gonzalez's back!

Gonzalez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rodelin gets his way!
Gonzalez just trying to survive but Rodelin is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Rodelin looking to break Gonzalez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Gonzalez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Rodelin will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Gonzalez tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Rodelin has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Gonzalez is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
