PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Kramer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Belondemu Nakalinzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Kramer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Belondemu Nakalinzi!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot by Kramer.

Nakalinzi drives through and clinches with Kramer against the cage.
Nakalinzi working aggressively here.

Kramer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kramer shoots and misses
and Nakalinzi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like John Kramer has been cut.
Nakalinzi cracks Kramer with a good jab.
Kramer misses with a takedown attempt - Nakalinzi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kramer shoots in looking for a takedown. Nakalinzi tries to sprawl out of it but Kramer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nakalinzi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Kramer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kramer connects with the punch.
Nakalinzi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nakalinzi wants it to stay on the feet.
Nakalinzi counters with a body kick.

Kramer is breathing heavily.
Nakalinzi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

A jab-cross combination lands for Nakalinzi and sends Kramer crashing to the mat! Nakalinzi follows him down to the mat - Kramer regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Nakalinzi has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $600 fee). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kramer is not content to let Nakalinzi control the position.
Nakalinzi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nakalinzi wants to take a breather but Kramer is having none of it.
Kramer manages to get to full guard.
Nakalinzi wants to pass the guard but Kramer is keeping the position.
Nakalinzi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kramer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kramer is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Turka Elite Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Nakalinzi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Nakalinzi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kramer can't keep his opponent in guard - Nakalinzi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nakalinzi connects with a nice short shot to Kramer's temple.

Nakalinzi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Nakalinzi lands strikes from half guard.

Nakalinzi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nakalinzi is looking to take a break and control but Kramer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kramer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nakalinzi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Nakalinzi stalling.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nakalinzi throws a wild body kick that Kramer sees coming a mile off.
Nakalinzi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A jab from Nakalinzi misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Nakalinzi.
Nakalinzi scores with a jab to the jaw.


John Kramer's cut is getting worse.
Nakalinzi misses with a hook to the body

and Kramer counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Nakalinzi!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kramer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nakalinzi's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Belondemu Nakalinzi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Kramer's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nakalinzi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kramer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nakalinzi circles away.
Nakalinzi is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Nakalinzi connects with a crisp jab.

Nakalinzi moves into the clinch successfully.
Nakalinzi has a couple of punches blocked by Kramer.
Nakalinzi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.


John Kramer's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Kramer decides to pull guard.
Nakalinzi trying to control but Kramer is working from the bottom.
Nakalinzi wants to pass the guard but Kramer is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kramer pulls Nakalinzi in to control the position.
Kramer trying to keep a closed guard but Nakalinzi is proving a slippery customer.

Nakalinzi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nakalinzi wants to control from the top but Kramer keeps moving.
Nakalinzi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Nakalinzi tries to free his leg and advance position but Kramer is retaining full guard.
Kramer wants to sweep but no luck.
Nakalinzi advances to half guard.
Kramer is trying to control but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kramer won't allow Nakalinzi to pass to mount.
Nakalinzi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nakalinzi jabs Kramer right on the nose. Kramer blinks but takes it well.
Kramer tries to close the distance and clinch but Nakalinzi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nakalinzi closes the distance and clinches.
A nice left hand lands by Nakalinzi.


Jeez, John Kramer's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Kramer's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Belondemu Nakalinzi!
