Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodger Morse! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quico Matching! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matching displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Morse. Matching attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Morse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Matching paws at him with a jab and circles away. Matching shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Morse is trying to defend but Matching finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Matching is looking to take a break and control but Morse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morse kicks off Matching and gets to his feet. Morse really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Matching shoots in and gets a takedown into Morse's guard. Matching content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matching is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Matching wants to get up but he can't break Morse's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Morse looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Matching tries to free his leg and advance position but Morse is retaining full guard. Morse is looking for a triangle here but Matching uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Morse closes the distance and clinches up with Matching, looking for a takedown. Morse pushes Matching against the cage but Matching circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Matching throws a hook to the side of Morse's head but Morse sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Matching throws a right and a left that both miss. It looked like Morse wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Matching looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Matching is working for a submission of some sort.

Quico Matching dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Matching wants to pass the guard but Morse is keeping the position. Matching advances to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morse is looking to control Matching's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Morse avoid being mounted? Matching passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Morse!
That's one minute gone in the round. Morse tries to reverse the position but Matching maintains control. Matching content just to control the position here. Morse wants to control but Matching is having none of it. Matching working the ground and pound effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matching controlling from mount. Matching wants to control the pace but Morse is squirming around nicely. Matching tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Morse is looking to improve his position but Matching isn't that keen on the idea. Matching scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matching unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Morse wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Matching celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
