PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Hammet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Mironov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammet comes to the cage accompanied by Finger Eleven - Slow Chemical. Mironov has chosen Down by Law - by Madball as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gordon Hammet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergei Mironov!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammet throws a body shot but no joy.
Mironov misses with a low kick.
Hammet fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mironov checks it well.
Hammet misses with a hook. Mironov ducked under it nicely.
Mironov misses with a body shot.
Mironov throws a body punch but Hammet moves out of range.
Mironov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hammet sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hammet throws a shot from downtown. Mironov moves away and avoids it.
Hammet bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mironov's head.


It looks like Sergei Mironov has been cut.
Hammet tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mironov with the counter takedown but Hammet avoids it easily.
Mironov tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mironov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hammet throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mironov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mironov stuffs the takedown attempt from Hammet. Hammet gets slowly back to his feet.
Gordon Hammet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mironov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Hammet misses with a straight left.
Mironov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hammet connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mironov scrambles back to his feet.
Mironov lands a right hook to the body.
Hammet misses with a takedown attempt - Mironov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mironov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hammet haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hammet wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mironov is now in half guard.
Mironov is stalling here. Hammet is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mironov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hammet has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mironov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hammet lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mironov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hammet moves away.
Hammet throws a head kick but Mironov moves out of range.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammet turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That was a close round but I would say that Gordon Hammet will probably get the nod.

Mironov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hammet.
Hammet throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mironov's waist but Mironov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hammet off to one side.

Hammet has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mironov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sergei Mironov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hammet throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mironov uses it to pass to side control.
Mironov is looking to take a break and control but Hammet is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mironov lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hammet down.

Mironov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammet, who protects the arm well.

Mironov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Mironov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mironov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Hammet is trying to control Mironov's posture but Mironov avoids it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mironov looks up at the clock and then as Hammet takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mironov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!


Jeez, Gordon Hammet's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gordon Hammet's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sergei Mironov!
An out of breath Sergei Mironov thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
