The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shishkanov walks into a left hand.
Shishkanov shoots for a double leg takedown but McGuinness sprawls well. He's pushed Shishkanov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A jab from McGuinness misses.

McGuinness misses with an uppercut. Shishkanov saw that one coming.
McGuinness lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
McGuinness misses with a straight right.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Shishkanov! But no joy.

Shishkanov shoots in but no luck this time.
McGuinness was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Connor McGuinness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGuinness shoots in for a takedown but Shishkanov shows good takedown defense.
A little jabbing left from Shishkanov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Shishkanov moves away from the strike by McGuinness.
McGuinness throws a hook but Shishkanov avoids it easily.
Shishkanov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McGuinness swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shishkanov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circling - McGuinness throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McGuinness's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McGuinness duly obliges.
McGuinness throws a looping overhand right but Shishkanov ducks down to avoid it.

McGuinness looks to land a left hand but Shishkanov moved out of range nicely.
Shishkanov lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Shishkanov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McGuinness quickly recovers to half guard.
