Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ricky Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Melvin Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe misses with an uppercut.
Monroe misses with a looping left.
Garcia looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Monroe swings for the body but Garcia moves out of range.
Monroe throws a leg kick that misses.
Garcia appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Monroe thows a left - swing and a miss!
Monroe throws a jab when Garcia was well out of range.
Monroe misses with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monroe throws a lazy right hand but Garcia sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
It seemed like Garcia was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've been hearing reports that Monroe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ricky Monroe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garcia uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monroe.
It seemed like Garcia was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Monroe dives in and scores a takedown into Garcia's guard.
Garcia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Garcia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monroe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Monroe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Monroe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Monroe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Monroe lands a couple of elbows.
Monroe tries to free his leg and advance position but Garcia is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Monroe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Garcia wants to get back to his feet but Monroe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Monroe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Monroe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garcia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Monroe has managed to get both his arms back between Garcia's legs - danger averted.
Garcia utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monroe lands a couple of digs.

Monroe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Monroe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Monroe sends Garcia crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Monroe is motioning to the referee to let Garcia up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Monroe drops Garcia with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Garcia looks back up at him and smiles so Monroe waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Garcia is still on wobbly legs! Can Monroe finish him?
Monroe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Garcia can do to turn this around?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Monroe darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Garcia's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Monroe before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ricky Monroe!
In his post fight interview, Ricky Monroe gave a big smile as he said 'Nice threads, but nothing else. Im pissed about my first fight, that lucky bastard! '.
Melvin Garcia was interviewed post fight and said 'Props to the other guy, but I think it was a fluke. But I want to give a shout out to Dissolution Fight Wear.'.
