Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Seen Kyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shermy Gipson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kyle throws a big shot that misses. A looping hook to the body misses from Kyle. Gipson does a little dance to reset his feet. Kyle throws a sloppy head kick and Gipson counters by moving into the clinch. Gipson tightens his grip and picks Kyle up, before dumping him to the ground. Kyle manages to land in guard. Gipson won't allow Kyle to sweep him here. Gipson postures up.
Kyle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Kyle has control of Gipson's left arm, preventing Gipson from doing any damage. Gipson throws a big right hand that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gipson slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Kyle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gipson moves nicely into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kyle tries to buck Gipson off but Gipson is having none of it. Kyle wants to control but Gipson postures up. Gipson is chipping away with strikes.
Kyle is looking to reverse the position. Kyle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sloppy strikes there by Gipson. Gipson in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kyle wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Kyle tries to buck Gipson off but Gipson is having none of it. Gipson in side control, throwing shots but Kyle defends. Gipson laying and praying for a moment but Kyle takes advantage and regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kyle is looking for a sweep. Gipson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kyle is trying to stand up here but Gipson is controlling him well. Gipson is pressing down on Kyle's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kyle is holding on for now. Kyle pushes Gipson off looking to stand but Gipson dives back in and keeps control.
Gipson tries to pass to full mount but Kyle defends it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A looping hook to the body misses from Gipson. Kyle does a little dance to reset his feet. Kyle doesn't manage to clinch there - Gipson circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Kyle. No joy for Gipson on that attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kyle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kyle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Gipson struggling a bit here. Gipson sneaks back into half guard. Gipson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kyle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gipson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Kyle is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gipson has managed to free his arm - good work. Gipson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kyle is looking for a kimura but Gipson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kyle to get the leverage. Kyle is keen to just control but Gipson is a slippery customer. Gipson is looking to control Kyle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gipson avoid being mounted? Kyle is looking to stall here but Gipson recovers full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kyle won't allow Gipson to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gipson fails with the takedown. Gipson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kyle. Kyle throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gipson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kyle is in Gipson's guard. Gipson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Kyle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gipson is keeping the position for now. Kyle wanted to stand there but Gipson had control of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kyle is looking to work some ground and pound but Gipson has wrist control. Gipson has a closed guard, preventing Kyle from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Seen Kyle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kyle misses with a takedown attempt - Gipson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gipson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kyle doesn't manage to clinch there - Gipson circles away.
Gipson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Kyle definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kyle scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gipson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. An elbow from Kyle crashes against the mat.
Gipson is not content to let Kyle control the position. Gipson can't do much from the bottom here. Kyle creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gipson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Gipson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kyle tries to stand and escape but Gipson is controlling the position. Gipson wants to improve his position but Kyle is controlling well.
Kyle wants to free his trapped foot but Gipson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Gipson is trying to control but can't.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Gipson throws a looping overhand right but Kyle ducks down to avoid it. Kyle appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Kyle has a takedown stuffed. And Gipson tries to counter it with a takedown but Kyle pushes his down on his head and steps out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seen Kyle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kyle scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gipson is not content to let Kyle control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kyle seems to be looking for submissions.
Kyle wants to stand but Gipson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kyle is trying to control. Gipson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Seen Kyle dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Gipson moves into range and clinches up with Kyle. A bit of stalling here from Gipson.
Gipson is leaning against Kyle and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Gipson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kyle wants to break free but Gipson has control.
Gipson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gipson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A slow jab from Gipson misses its intended target. Kyle shoots in but Gipson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kyle fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seen Kyle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gipson misses with a body shot.
Gipson throws a looping overhand right but Kyle ducks down to avoid it. Kyle throws out a leg kick but Gipson moves out of range and Kyle only half commits. Gipson feints a counter leg kick. Gipson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kyle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kyle is looking to regain half guard here but Gipson keeps moving and retains side control. Seen Kyle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gipson misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Gipson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gipson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gipson laying and praying for a moment but Kyle takes advantage and regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kyle is staying active underneath Gipson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gipson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kyle has managed to free his arm - good work. Kyle tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Kyle has his hands clasped together around Gipson's back. He's all about the action. Kyle looks like he's trying to stand up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Gipson leaves Kyle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gipson steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Kyle. Kyle scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gipson is trying to control Kyle's posture but Kyle avoids it. Kyle trying to control the action but Gipson is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gipson is looking for a sweep. Gipson struggling a bit here. Kyle has knee on belly and moves into mount. Kyle content just to control the position here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kyle throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gipson because Kyle loaded up on that one.
And that's the end of the fight! Shermy Gipson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Gipson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
