Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jorn Anthriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Simons III (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Simons III has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simons III gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Anthriel counters with a body kick that stops Simons III in his tracks momentarily.
Anthriel ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Simons III dives in and grabs Anthriel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Anthriel pushes down on Simons III's head and hops out.
Anthriel appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Simons III feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Simons III working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
