Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Matsuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Matsuo has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Matsuo! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Matsuo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Anderson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Matsuo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Anderson is looking to stand up but Matsuo won't let him. Matsuo looking for a guillotine here but Anderson defends easily.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Matsuo is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matsuo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsuo uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Matsuo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Anderson's half guard. Matsuo prevents Anderson from improving his position. Matsuo throwing shots but Anderson is blocking nicely. Matsuo uses his free foot to push down on Anderson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Anderson. Matsuo looking to control but Anderson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Matsuo gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matsuo shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Matsuo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Anderson clinches up against the cage. Matsuo is trying to pull guard but Anderson has him pressed against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Anderson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Matsuo breaks the clinch.
Anderson is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Matsuo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Anderson tries to clinch up but Matsuo circles away and keeps his distance. Matsuo doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Matsuo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Anderson is fending him off so far but Matsuo persists. Nope, Anderson circles away and we're back to standing. Jon Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Matsuo. Anderson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Matsuo, pushing him back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matsuo has picked Anderson up - he's going for a ride! Matsuo dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matsuo is working away from the top position though. Anderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Matsuo works his way into side control. Anderson is looking for a sweep. Matsuo trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom. Matsuo works to advance to full mount. Anderson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuo get's back to his feet. Matsuo rushes Anderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Matsuo wants to break the clinch but can't.
Matsuo tries to stall but Anderson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Anderson cracks Matsuo with a nice body shot. Matsuo decides to pull guard. Anderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Anderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matsuo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Matsuo is trying to keep Anderson in close.
Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Matsuo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Matsuo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matsuo takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Anderson goes for a double leg but Matsuo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matsuo continues to drive forward. Anderson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Matsuo. Anderson shoots in but Matsuo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Anderson.
Anderson shoots and misses and Matsuo counters with a one-two to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matsuo looks for a takedown but Anderson sprawls well. Anderson gets caught napping as Matsuo dives in and scores a takedown. Anderson manages to retain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Matsuo won't allow Anderson to get back to his feet. Matsuo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Anderson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Matsuo is aware though and is defending well. Matsuo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Matsuo passes into half guard. Matsuo stalling. Anderson trying to hold on to Matsuo's head to control him but Matsuo postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Anderson wants to get back to full guard. Matsuo scoring with strikes to the body and head. Anderson is trying to stand back up but Matsuo is controlling him
Well, if Matsuo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Matsuo passes the guard and advances to mount! Anderson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Matsuo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Anderson is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matsuo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Anderson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Anderson shrugs it off. Matsuo trying to control but Anderson is having none of it. Anderson working to try and regain half guard.
Anderson taking shots to the head. Anderson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Anderson tries to reverse the position but Matsuo maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Anderson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Anderson reaches up to try and control the position but Matsuo seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Anderson rolls and tries to escape and now Matsuo has his back!
Anderson is taking damage to the body and head. Matsuo doesn't have the hooks in and Anderson manages to turn into his guard.
Matsuo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily. Anderson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matsuo is keeping the position for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Anderson preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Matsuo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Matsuo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Matsuo tries for a kimura but Anderson is defending well. Anderson tries to escape but Matsuo is in control. Anderson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Matsuo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Matsuo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Matsuo is taking a breather. Anderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Matsuo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matsuo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Nice strikes from Matsuo there. Matsuo prevents Anderson from improving his position. Matsuo decides to stand and escape the position. Matsuo tries a head kick but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson avoids the head kick by Matsuo.
Anderson dives in and grabs Matsuo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matsuo pushes down on Anderson's head and hops out. Matsuo tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Anderson shoots in but no luck this time. Anderson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Matsuo blocks a jab. Matsuo gets a clinch. Anderson misses with a punch to the body.
Anderson throws a head punch that misses. Matsuo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A momentary lapse in concentration from Anderson enables Matsuo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Anderson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Anderson keeping moving, preventing Matsuo from controlling successfully. Anderson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsuo trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom. Anderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Matsuo flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Matsuo works his way to full guard. Good work. Matsuo trying to keep a closed guard but Anderson is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Anderson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jon Anderson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jay Matsuo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Anderson won't allow Matsuo to sweep him here.
