Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fafnir Amdahl! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Miguel Oliveira! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amdahl checks a leg kick. Amdahl half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Amdahl slips a jab and a cross from Oliveira.
Oliveira misses with a jab, cross combination.
Amdahl tries to counter with a takedown but Oliveira is quick to defend against it. Amdahl fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Oliveira manages to avoid it. A nice inside leg kick there by Oliveira. That's going to slow Amdahl down. Oliveira lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Oliveira. Oliveira scores with a jab. Oliveira tries to land a front kick but Amdahl steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Amdahl changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Oliveira throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Amdahl shoots in and bounces Oliveira off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Amdahl thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Amdahl trying to control the position from guard on top but Oliveira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Oliveira is trying to keep Amdahl in close.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Excellent takedown into side control there by Amdahl. Amdahl thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Amdahl swings around for an armbar but Oliveira sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Amdahl's guard. Oliveira throws a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amdahl looking for subs off his back but Oliveira has passed one foot through into half guard.
Oliveira decides to stand and escape the position. Oliveira throws a sloppy head kick and Amdahl counters with a takedown into side control. Amdahl looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Oliveira tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Amdahl wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Amdahl tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Amdahl has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Amdahl thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Amdahl tries for a kimura but Oliveira is defending well. Amdahl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oliveira is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Amdahl looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Fafnir Amdahl will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Oliveira looks to land a right hand but Amdahl moved out of range. Amdahl goes for a double leg but Oliveira avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Oliveira continues to drive forward. Danga de danga de dang - Oliveira scores with a four punch combination! A punch combination from Oliveira misses. Amdahl changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. and Amdahl counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Amdahl. Amdahl is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Amdahl postures up.
Our spies down at at Weed Nation inform us that Oliveira has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Oliveira holds on and takes a little breather. Amdahl looking to sit in guard and control but Oliveira gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amdahl preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Amdahl has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Oliveira trying to control the position from guard on top but Amdahl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Amdahl has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Oliveira is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Amdahl. Amdahl is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Oliveira's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Amdahl trying to control here.
Amdahl is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Amdahl looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Amdahl looking for submissions off his back. Amdahl is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oliveira pulls his head out easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oliveira working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Amdahl's thigh. Amdahl counters though and makes it back to full guard. Amdahl throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Amdahl is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Oliveira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Amdahl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Oliveira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A combination from Oliveira does no damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Amdahl is trying hard to land a takedown here. Oliveira sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Oliveira lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Amdahl circles away quickly and effectively. Amdahl feinted with a counter takedown. Amdahl changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Oliveira tries to avoid it but Amdahl manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Oliveira to the ground. Oliveira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fafnir Amdahl. That's going to take a lot out of him. Amdahl shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Oliveira showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Oliveira tries to bum rush Amdahl with a series of wild strikes but Amdahl uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Oliveira lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Amdahl circles away quickly and effectively. Amdahl changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Oliveira lands a right hook to the body.
Oliveira throws a right hand that Amdahl ducks under and follows up with a left that Amdahl also avoids with ease. Amdahl is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Oliveira looks to land a combination but Amdahl avoids it well. Amdahl half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. A clash of legs there as Amdahl blocks the low kick. No luck with that takedown attempt from Amdahl. Oliveira moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Oliveira has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amdahl misses with a takedown attempt - Oliveira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Oliveira tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliveira drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Amdahl right on the button. Amdahl goes down! Oliveira follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Oliveira gets the win via TKO!
