Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoel Palacio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Outcast Outlaw! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Outlaw throws a series of punches but Palacio moves out of range. Palacio throws a hook but Outlaw blocks it. Palacio scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Outlaw gets full guard. Palacio cracks Outlaw with a solid left hand. Palacio is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Outlaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Palacio has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Palacio landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Outlaw escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Palacio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Palacio could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Palacio working some strikes from top position. Palacio lands a couple of digs. Palacio distracts Outlaw with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Outlaw manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Palacio manages to get himself to full guard.
Palacio keeping moving, preventing Outlaw from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Outlaw pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Palacio is keeping the position for now. Palacio on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Palacio tries to get out of the position. Outlaw trying to control but Palacio is working from the bottom. Outlaw stopping the sweep attempt from Palacio. Outlaw forces his way into half guard. Outlaw works his way into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action here. Outlaw working away. Palacio tries to improve position but can't. Palacio throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Palacio drives through with a takedown into guard. Outlaw looking for a triangle here. Palacio is fighting it but it looks tight! Outlaw pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Palacio is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Outcast Outlaw! After winning the bout, Outcast Outlaw thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
