Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clint Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clint Cartwright! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward dives in and grabs Cartwright's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cartwright pushes down on Ward's head and hops out. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cartwright! But no joy. Ward gets a takedown into half guard. Cartwright is defending against the submission attempts here by Ward.
Cartwright pushes Ward off looking to stand but Ward dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ward not landing any meaningful shots this time. Cartwright avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ward. Cartwright wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ward tries to pass to full mount but Cartwright defends it. Ward stops Cartwright from getting back to his feet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Cartwright is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ward went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Cartwright tries to close the distance and clinch but Ward swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cartwright tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ward throws a big counter combination but Cartwright scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Cartwright rushes Ward and presses him up against the cage. Cartwright turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Ward is looking to reverse the position. Cartwright misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward tries to buck Cartwright off but Cartwright is having none of it. Ward regains half guard. Ward is trying to get back to full guard. Cartwright sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ward defending well though. Ward wants to control but Cartwright is keeping busy.
Ward keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Cartwright lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Cartwright throws a strike but Ward avoids it easily and moves to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cartwright trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cartwright pushes Ward off looking to stand but Ward dives back in and keeps control.
Ward wants to work for an arm triangle but Cartwright is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Ward is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cartwright is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ward cracks Cartwright with a big right hand but Cartwright just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Cartwright instigates a clinch. Cartwright is trying to trip Ward. He has hold of a leg but Ward is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cartwright persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Cartwright is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Cartwright won't allow Ward to sweep him here. We've been hearing good reports from Ward's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Cartwright avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ward wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Clint Cartwright has got the better of the ground game so far. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cartwright connects with a nice short shot to Ward's temple. Cartwright seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Cartwright throws a strike but Ward avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Ward utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Clint Cartwright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Cartwright gets tackled into the cage by Ward. Ward maintains the clinch. Ward is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cartwright is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ward to the mat. Ward regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Ward is trying to keep Cartwright in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Clint Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ward darts in looking for a takedown but Cartwright gets double underhooks and turns Ward into the cage. It seemed like Cartwright was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Cartwright takes the fight into the clinch. Ward changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cartwright fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Ward keeps the fight on the outside. Cartwright closes the distance and pushes Ward back into the cage. Ward is trying to break free. Cartwright lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Cartwright scores with a nice hook to the head. Ward is trying to pull guard but Cartwright has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cartwright gets a trip takedown into half guard. Cartwright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Cartwright is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ward defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cartwright is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ward is looking for a sweep. Cartwright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cartwright thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ward's head. Cartwright is keen to just control but Ward is a slippery customer. Ward trying to control but Cartwright postures up.
This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cartwright is looking for a kimura but Ward is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cartwright to get the leverage. Ward tries to get to full guard but Cartwright has control of the leg.
And that's the end of the fight! Clint Cartwright comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Cartwright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
