Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Hegel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis McMurray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hegel comes to the cage accompanied by Fumio Hayasaka - In the Forest of the Water God. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lewis McMurray!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMurray doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hegel keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
McMurray takes a swing at Hegel's ribcage but misses.
Hegel tried to counter with a leg kick but McMurray avoided it.
McMurray looking to land some kicks to the body here.
As McMurray backs away, Hegel returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Hegel gets tackled into the cage by McMurray. McMurray maintains the clinch.
McMurray misses with the head strike.
Hegel lands with a left to the head.
A head punch on the inside from McMurray fails to land.
Hegel doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
McMurray blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McMurray lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hegel using the Thai plumb to throw knees but McMurray has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

McMurray is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hegel trying to keep a closed guard but McMurray is proving a slippery customer.
Hegel wants to sweep but no luck.
McMurray pushing down on Hegel's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hegel is looking to improve his position.
McMurray not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

McMurray is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Hegel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hegel tries to get out of the position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McMurray lands a nice short elbow.
McMurray has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hegel tries to get to full guard but McMurray has control of the leg.

Hegel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McMurray throws a body shot but no joy.
Hegel swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
McMurray connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hegel momentarily.

McMurray looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McMurray thows a huge punch but Hegel dodges it nicely.

McMurray has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hegel defend it? McMurray steps over the head and cranks it - Hegel is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McMurray!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lewis McMurray!
During a confident post fight interview, Lewis McMurray thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
