Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Brynden Tully! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chip Gibbs! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tully catches Gibbs with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Brynden Tully seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tully lands with an overhand left. Tully throws a good cross that connects.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tully. Gibbs tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Tully fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Gibbs takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Tully throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Gibbs missing with a left hand there. Tully was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Tully throws a quick inside leg kick. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tully misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tully avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gibbs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gibbs sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Gibbs throws a series of punches but Tully avoids them all with ease. Tully lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Tully lands a big head kick that sends Gibbs tumbling to the mat! Tully takes a step backwards and waves Gibbs back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Gibbs is rocked!
It looks like Chip Gibbs has been cut. Gibbs with a lazy takedown attempt and Tully counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gibbs thinking. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tully feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gibbs's calf. Tully cracks Gibbs with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tully has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gibbs to stand back up! Gibbs is still on wobbly legs! Can Tully finish him? Brynden Tully is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A chopping leg kick lands by Tully. Tully connects with a stiff jab that staggers Gibbs - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Brynden Tully! Brynden Tully seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
