Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Guadalupe May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guadalupe May has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Troy Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

May gets tackled into the cage by Velasquez. Velasquez maintains the clinch.

May decides to pull guard.
Velasquez trying to control but May is working from the bottom.
Velasquez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

May looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Velasquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Velasquez clinches up with May and pushes him back against the cage.

May works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
May wants to stand but Velasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
May controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

May trying to stand up but can't free himself from Velasquez's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez working for a triangle but May defends it easily.
May controls from within his opponent's guard.

Velasquez is wriggling around but May manages to pass to half guard.
May trying to control the pace.
Velasquez tries to kick May off but May keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

May stands up out of the half guard.
Velasquez shoots for a takedown but May saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
May shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Velasquez as he jumps to the side.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
May shoots in looking for a takedown. Velasquez tries to sprawl out of it but May keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Velasquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

May drives through with a takedown into guard.
Velasquez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst May is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Velasquez has momentary wrist control but May slips an elbow through the middle.

May wants to clinch.
May dives in and grabs Velasquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes down on May's head and hops out.
Velasquez goes for a double leg but May avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as May continues to drive forward.
Velasquez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

May is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Velasquez.
Guadalupe May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Troy Velasquez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around May's waist but May gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velasquez off to one side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
May content to stall in guard here.
May's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

May shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than May was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Velasquez is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



May moves into the clinch.
Velasquez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
May on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Velasquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. May is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Velasquez is trying to maintain a safe position but May gets an underhook and turns Velasquez into the cage.
May goes for a takedown in the clinch but Velasquez prevents it.
Come on Velasquez - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Velasquez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The crowd are getting on Velasquez's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Velasquez is fighting off a takedown attempt but May is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Velasquez to the mat. Velasquez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
May wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

May has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
May continues to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

May is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Velasquez sees it coming and defends easily.
Velasquez wants to get back to his feet.
May tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Velasquez.
Velasquez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of May's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take May's back!
Velasquez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
May looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Velasquez keeps control of the position easily here as May tries to buck him off.

Velasquez slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
May might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
