Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glen Bowers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Choda Monkey! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Bowers. Monkey fails in his attempt to clinch. Monkey closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bowers did well to prevent Monkey getting side control. Bowers trying to control from the bottom.
Bowers is staying active underneath Monkey, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are battling for position here. Bowers manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bowers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bowers keeping moving, preventing Monkey from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monkey pushes down on Bowers's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowers gets back to full guard.
Monkey is fighting to break Bowers's control of his arms but Bowers is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Monkey wanted to stand there but Bowers had control of the position. Bowers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bowers throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Monkey wants to get up but he can't break Bowers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Monkey wants to control from the top but Bowers keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bowers lands a nice leg kick that just misses Monkey's sensitive parts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Monkey fails in his attempt to clinch. Bowers went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Monkey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bowers swats him away and circles back towards the center. Monkey drives through with a takedown into guard. Bowers wants to sweep here but Monkey controlling him for the moment. Monkey in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Monkey trying to control but Bowers is working from the bottom. Monkey trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bowers lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Bowers postures up and lands a big shot to Monkey's brow. Bowers with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bowers distracts Monkey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monkey wants to stand and escape but Bowers is having none of it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bowers's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Bowers scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Bowers throws a big elbow that misses. Bowers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Monkey working a defensive guard here.

Bowers doesn't defend quickly enough and Monkey has managed to lock this one up! Can Bowers escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Monkey on a fantastic submission victory.
