Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Orval Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnus Englund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Orval Slater is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Orval Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magnus Englund!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Englund gets tackled into the cage by Slater. Slater maintains the clinch.
Englund drops down looking for an ankle pick but Slater pulls his leg out and moves away.

Englund fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Slater sprawls well initially but Englund persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Englund works his foot free and advances to mount.

Englund goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Slater is on top in guard.
Slater is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Englund isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Slater stacks Englund on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Slater!

Englund can't do much from the bottom here.
Englund sneaks back into half guard.
Englund is looking to control Slater's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Englund avoid being mounted?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Englund is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slater pulls his head out easily.

Englund has his foot on Slater's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slater works his way back into a safe position though.

Slater got a little sloppy there for a moment and Englund has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slater has managed to get both his arms back between Englund's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Slater shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Englund's guard.
Slater knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Englund on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Orval Slater will probably get the nod.

Englund tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Slater breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Englund checks the leg kick nicely there.
Englund shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Slater defends it nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slater closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Slater lands in his opponent's guard.

Slater is nestled in close to Englund, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Slater is taking a breather. Englund says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Slater passes into side control, despite Englund's attempt to control the position.
Slater is looking to take a break and control but Englund is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Englund wants to control but Slater postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Slater wants to control from the top but Englund keeps moving.

Slater has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Englund working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slater doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slater manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
