PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Smokey Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nash comes into the arena with Static-X - The Only blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Smokey Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henry White!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
White digs a good body shot into Nash's ribs.

Nash shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nash showed some decent athleticism there.
White regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Nash.
Nash trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
Nash throwing strikes but missing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nash working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
White keeping moving, preventing Nash from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nash with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nash seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
White keeping full guard, as Nash tries to pass.
Nash sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nash throws a sloppy body shot
and White counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nash shoots in for a takedown but White shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
White appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nash instigates a clinch.
Nash stalling against the cage.
White working some nice short punches in the clinch.
White pushes Nash back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Nash gets through White's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Nash has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by White after a bit of a struggle.
White goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Still in the clinch, Nash scores with a nice short uppercut.
White gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nash.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smokey Nash. That's going to take a lot out of him.

White stops a takedown attempt from Nash.

Nash lands a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nash is looking to pass into half guard but White pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now White is in guard.

Nash lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

White looking for a sweep. Not yet White, not yet.
White avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
White looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
White keeping moving, preventing Nash from controlling successfully.
Nash is really struggling to control White but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Nash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nash working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
White wants to sweep here but Nash controlling him for the moment.
White working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nash.
Nash wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Smokey Nash will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


White throws an overhand right that lands on Nash's shoulder, as Nash tries to avoid the shot.
White misses with a low kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nash.
White throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nash shoots for a double leg takedown but White sprawls well. He's pushed Nash's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nash on the wrong end of a nice jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nash lands a head kick. White smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Nash looks to score with a jab to the body but White is just out of range.

White moves out of range as Nash throws a body kick.
It seemed like White was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nash clinches up with White and pushes him back against the cage.

Nash works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Nash wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.
White pulls Nash in close to prevent any damage.
White avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Nash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Nash throws an elbow that misses. White uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nash's guard. Nice move by White!

Nash looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nash is working hard here to advance position.

Nash is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and White defends well.
White controlling from the top position.
Nash trying to keep a closed guard but White is proving a slippery customer.

Nash has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nash on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Nash tries to clinch there but White circles away.
White looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Nash gets cracked with a nice right hand there by White.
Nash fakes high and swings low for a body shot but White manages to avoid it.
White scores with a crisp jab that stopped Nash in his tracks.

A clash of legs there as Nash blocks the low kick.
White lands a nice looking body shot.
White takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Nash takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nash.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White avoids the head kick by Nash.
White connects with an inside leg kick.
White misses with a leg kick.
Nash uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White.
White connects with a jab.
Nash tries to close the distance and clinch but White swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Nash fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nash throws a jab but it's blocked by White.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nash swings away with a body shot that misses
and Nash takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nash is looking to wear down White with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
White avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nash fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nash misses with a lunging right hand
and White counters with a stiff right hand.


Nash is rocked!
Nash wants to clinch up but White keeps it at a distance.
Oh Nash is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
White drops Nash with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Nash! White dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Henry White!
