Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Opie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Opie's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Opie is on top in guard.


Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Opie content to stall in guard here.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Opie is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Opie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jones has hold of Opie's hands but Opie slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Opie not doing much here.
Opie is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

Opie tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it.
Opie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Opie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones did well to prevent Opie getting side control.
Jones is looking to improve his position.
Opie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Opie lands a nice short elbow.

Opie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jones has managed to free his arm - good work.

Opie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Opie!
Jones tries to move to mount but Opie blocks the move with his legs.
Opie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones has knee on belly momentarily but Opie bucks him off and regains half guard.
Opie wants to get back to full guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Opie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Opie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?
Jones throws a strike but Opie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Opie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Opie from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Opie not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Opie defends it easily.
Opie is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Opie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Opie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Opie moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!
Opie wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.

Opie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Opie lands with some strikes.
Jones tries to hold on but Opie postures up.
Jones is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Opie is staying active.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Opie lands a nice shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Opie connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.

Opie throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Jones is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Opie is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Opie throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Opie is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Opie to get the leverage.

Opie is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Jones is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
