PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Taiei Kin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psycho Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Taiei Kin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Psycho Vaughan!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughan takes a swing at Kin's ribcage but misses.
Kin slips a jab from Vaughan.

Vaughan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vaughan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kin. That one must have hurt.
Vaughan jabs Kin to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Vaughan misses with a body shot.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kin.
Kin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Vaughan is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kin rather than just go for the knockout.
Vaughan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Both fighters circling a little - Kin finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Vaughan takes a swing at Kin's ribcage but misses.
Vaughan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kin throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Psycho Vaughan has been cut.
Kin tries a head kick but it misses.
Vaughan doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Vaughan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vaughan takes a swing at Kin's ribcage but misses.
It looked like Kin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Vaughan throws a body shot but no joy.
And Kin counters with a quick kick to the body but Vaughan blocks it.
Vaughan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Kin lands a big uppercut and Vaughan crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Vaughan looks OK. Kin waves Vaughan back to his feet!


Vaughan is rocked!
Vaughan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kin was well out of range. Poor timing from Vaughan.
Kin scoring well with a low kick there.
Vaughan misses with a double jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vaughan scores with a jab to the head.

Kin looks for the body kick but Vaughan saw that one coming.
Vaughan keeps the fight on the outside.
A nice side step and Vaughan releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Vaughan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kin keeps Vaughan at a distance using the push kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kin with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Kin tries to land a knee to the head but Vaughan blocks with his arms.
Kin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vaughan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Vaughan looks winded!
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kin landing knees to the body.

A short right from Kin on the inside.

Vaughan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kin lands a good knee to the midsection. Vaughan won't want to take too many of those.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice body punch from Kin - that landed with a thud.
Kin presses Vaughan against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

That has opened up Psycho Vaughan's cut even more.

Kin drops Vaughan with a big knee straight up the middle! Vaughan is covering up against the ropes but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Vaughan is still on wobbly legs! Can Kin finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kin throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Vaughan crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Taiei Kin!
