Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Colt McLaren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Burgundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Colt McLaren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Ron Burgundy! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLaren throws a wild body kick that Burgundy sees coming a mile off. McLaren backing away here, and Burgundy unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Burgundy throws a leg kick but McLaren sees it coming and moves out of range. A solid leg kick lands there for Burgundy.
McLaren has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Burgundy throws a head kick that McLaren semi-blocks.
McLaren throws a front kick aimed at Burgundy's knee but Burgundy avoids it well. McLaren closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burgundy to the mat! Burgundy manages to get full guard. McLaren postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. McLaren wants to control from the top but Burgundy keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McLaren tries to free his leg and advance position but Burgundy is retaining full guard. Burgundy is looking to stand up but McLaren isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McLaren throws a leg kick but Burgundy moved away. Burgundy tries to clinch but McLaren moves out of range. McLaren tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Burgundy is able to avoid easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Burgundy as McLaren shoots in. Burgundy avoids the head kick by McLaren.
A swing and a miss from Burgundy. Burgundy closes the distance but McLaren moves to the side and McLaren counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Burgundy! Burgundy wants to get back to his feet. McLaren working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Burgundy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McLaren. McLaren is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burgundy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McLaren tries to score with some ground and pound. Burgundy controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. The ground and pound from McLaren seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. McLaren in side control, throwing shots but Burgundy defends. McLaren trying to control the position but Burgundy is working away. Burgundy is pushing McLaren's head away, looking to escape. McLaren manages to hold on to the position though. Burgundy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McLaren.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sloppy strikes there by McLaren. McLaren misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Burgundy wants to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McLaren is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Burgundy has escaped the position, nice work there. McLaren working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burgundy parries the strikes from McLaren easily there. McLaren is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Burgundy to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McLaren scores with a hook to the body. Burgundy takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. McLaren throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. McLaren throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

McLaren takes a shot right to the bread basket. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McLaren darts in and clinches Burgundy up against the cage. Burgundy is looking to control McLaren's arms but McLaren gets an underhook and turns him. Now Burgundy has his back to the cage. McLaren drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Burgundy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Burgundy tries to throw a body punch but McLaren avoids it by throwing Burgundy back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. McLaren wants the takedown. Burgundy is fighting it off but McLaren persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Burgundy's guard against the cage. McLaren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burgundy swivels though and keeps the full guard. Burgundy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. McLaren postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McLaren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McLaren passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McLaren is looking to take a break and control but Burgundy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McLaren scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Burgundy to see if he's OK. McLaren is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burgundy can do to turn this around?
That's two minutes gone in the round. McLaren is working Burgundy over with some ground and pound from side control. Burgundy defending against the ground and pound. Burgundy pushes McLaren away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McLaren gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. McLaren swings around for an armbar but Burgundy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McLaren's guard. McLaren wants to sweep here but Burgundy controlling him for the moment. McLaren is looking for a triangle but Burgundy pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McLaren wants to sweep here but Burgundy controlling him for the moment. Colt McLaren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. McLaren is looking for a triangle but Burgundy pushes his legs off easily.

A lazy body kick from McLaren and Burgundy counters with a straight punch to the midsection. McLaren fails with a takedown attempt. McLaren throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Burgundy counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. McLaren attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. McLaren shoots in for a takedown but Burgundy shows good takedown defense. Burgundy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McLaren circles away quickly and effectively. Colt McLaren is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. McLaren throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Burgundy throws a jab when McLaren was well out of range. McLaren moves out of range as Burgundy strikes. McLaren misses with an attempted mid kick.
Burgundy lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Ron Burgundy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A decent looking body kick lands there for McLaren. Burgundy keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
McLaren will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colt McLaren. That's going to take a lot out of him. McLaren throws a body kick that misses and Burgundy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. McLaren clinches up against the cage. Burgundy stalling in the clinch but McLaren improves position. McLaren blocks a punch to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McLaren lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McLaren is pressing down on Burgundy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Burgundy is holding on for now. McLaren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burgundy keeps working.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Colt McLaren. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McLaren, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
