Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicholas Walter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Conchito Gabaldon!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gabaldon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Walter somewhat.
Gabaldon misses with a double jab.

Gabaldon closes the distance and clinches.
Walter jumps guard but Gabaldon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Gabaldon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Gabaldon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gabaldon tests Walter's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gabaldon throws out a leg kick but Walter moves out of range and Gabaldon only half commits.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gabaldon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Walter circles away quickly and effectively.
Gabaldon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Gabaldon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gabaldon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicholas Walter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gabaldon scores with the left hand. Walter knows he should have avoided that one.
Gabaldon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gabaldon wants it to stay on the feet.

Gabaldon moves into the clinch successfully.
Gabaldon is trying to push Walter away but Walter has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Walter tries to pull guard but Gabaldon holds him up against the cage and eventually Walter drops back down to his feet.
Gabaldon working hard to break the clinch.

Gabaldon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Walter shoots in but Gabaldon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Walter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gabaldon tries a head kick but it misses.
Walter appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walter dives in and scores a takedown into Gabaldon's guard.

Gabaldon has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Walter off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gabaldon moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Walter misses with a body kick.
Gabaldon throws a leg kick but Walter sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Gabaldon scores with a sloppy right hand. Walter should have avoided that one.
Walter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walter appears to be looking for a big counter.

Gabaldon instigates a clinch.

Gabaldon breaks the clinch.
Walter shoots in and drives through. Gabaldon sprawls well.
Gabaldon tries to counter with a clinch but Walter shakes him off and moves away.
Walter checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
And Walter counters with a quick kick to the body but Gabaldon blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gabaldon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Walter's calf.

Gabaldon scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gabaldon is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Walter is pressing down on Gabaldon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Walter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gabaldon is one step ahead there.

Gabaldon wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Walter's closed guard. He's half up but Walter has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Walter pivots and extends the arm, Gabaldon falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Walter! Well done that man!
