The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zalac shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Zalac is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kais sees it coming and defends easily.
Kais has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zalac is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kais manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kais is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zalac postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kais is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zalac, into his guard.
Zalac looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zalac is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kais trying to control the position from guard on top but Zalac is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kais is looking to work some ground and pound but Zalac has wrist control.
Kais trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kais trying to control but Zalac is working from the bottom.
Zalac is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kais won't allow Zalac to get back to his feet.
Kais wants to control from the top but Zalac keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kais is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Zalac is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kais wants to pass the guard but Zalac is keeping the position.
Kais trying to control but Zalac is working from the bottom.
Kais looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kais throws a body punch but Zalac moves out of range.
Zalac gets a takedown into half guard.
Kais avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Zalac.

Kais is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Zalac is aware though and is defending well.
Zalac drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kais dives on top into guard.
Zalac looks winded!
Kais wants to control from the top but Zalac keeps moving.
Zalac has control of Kais's left arm, preventing Kais from doing any damage.
Zalac is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kais is aware though and is defending well.

Kais wants to pass the guard but Zalac is keeping the position.
Zalac really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kais. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Zalac utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kais drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Kais seems to have locked his on tight now - Zalac screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Kais, as he picks up the win!

Kenny Kais was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
