The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jouban wants to clinch but Vinkela slips to the side
and Vinkela decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jouban's guard.
Vinkela trying to control but Jouban is working from the bottom.

Vinkela pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jouban is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vinkela drops back looking for a leg! Jouban is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jouban manages to kick Vinkela off! Vinkela jumps back into Jouban's guard.
Vinkela is pushing down on Jouban's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jouban is fighting to maintain full guard but Vinkela has managed to sneak the leg through.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Vinkela seems to be looking for submissions.
Vinkela is working for a submission of some sort.
Vinkela is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jouban doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vinkela.
Vinkela is trying to control. Jouban wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Vinkela looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vinkela seems to be working for a kimura but Jouban defends the submission attempt.
Jouban is refusing to be controlled, as Vinkela sits in half guard.

Vinkela is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Vinkela stops Jouban from getting back to his feet.
Vinkela wants to control but Jouban is keeping him busy.
Well, if Vinkela is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Vinkela is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jouban!

The referee asks Vinkela politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vinkela prefers to stall for the moment though.
Jouban wants to get back to his feet.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vinkela working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Vinkela has hold of Jouban's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jouban seems comfortable defending it but Vinkela has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jouban is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jouban is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Vinkela couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pepo Vinkela!
Pepo Vinkela made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Vinkelo ne proshtava!'.
