Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Merridew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Merridew! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rekis! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rekis avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Rekis is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Merridew with a body shot. Merridew looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Merridew lands with a hook. Rekis tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Rekis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Merridew sprawls well. Merridew wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rekis gets slowly back to his feet. A little feinted left hand from Merridew on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Merridew scores with a hook to the body. Rekis takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Rekis tries to clinch there but Merridew circles away.
Merridew swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rekis unleashes a big counter combination but Merridew bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Merridew tries to keep at a distance but Rekis has taken the fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Merridew breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Merridew throws an overhand right that lands on Rekis's shoulder, as Rekis tries to avoid the shot. Rekis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Merridew as he jumps to the side. Merridew lands a nice shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rekis shoots in looking for a takedown. Merridew tries to sprawl out of it but Rekis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Merridew manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A counter left hand to the body from Merridew misses its target. Jack Merridew has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rekis. A shot to the liver by Merridew. Beautiful body shot. Rekis clinches. Merridew breaks the clinch.
Jack Merridew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rekis takes a body punch but keeps moving. Merridew throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Rekis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Merridew lands a hook that snaps the head of Rekis backwards. Rekis goes for a takedown attempt but Merridew pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Merridew is looking to wear down Rekis with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Nice body punch from Merridew. Rekis looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merridew's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rekis under the eye. This has been an exciting period of action! Merridew connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rekis momentarily.
Good shot there by Merridew. Rekis walks into a jab. Nice shot by Merridew. Rekis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Merridew manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Rekis looking to score a takedown here. Merridew is defending well but Rekis drives through and ends up in Merridew's guard. Rekis wants to control from the top but Merridew keeps moving. Merridew is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Merridew seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rekis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rekis sitting in guard, not really doing much. Merridew pulls Rekis in close to his closed guard and prevents Rekis from doing any damage or advancing position. Rekis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Merridew wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Merridew lands a jab to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Merridew slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Rekis tries to clinch up but Merridew circles away and keeps his distance. Merridew connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rekis's hands. Merridew stuns Rekis with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Merridew dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Rekis takes a jab right on the kisser.
Merridew scores with a nice head shot. This has been an exciting period of action! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rekis. Merridew waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rekis. Merridew scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Merridew scores with a nice head shot. Merridew clobbers Rekis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Merridew throws a monster overhand right that drops Rekis! Merridew follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Merridew! A victorious Jack Merridew thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter. John Rekis spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll be back!!!'.
