Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Locke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rem Las! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Las tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Locke counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Rem Las has been cut. Las tries to clinch but Locke moves out of range. An attempted straight right counter from Locke misses the target. Las tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Locke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. An attempted straight right counter from Locke misses the target. Las is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Locke throwing a counter right hand but Las manages to avoid it. The fight stays on the outside here - Las looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Las wants to clinch. Locke swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Las darts in trying to clinch and Locke connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Las tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Locke paws at him with a jab and circles away. Locke is looking to counter punch. Las tries to clinch up but Locke circles away and keeps his distance. Rem Las seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Las tries to clinch up but Locke circles away and keeps his distance. An attempted straight right counter from Locke misses the target. Locke keeps the fight on the outside. Las fails in his attempt to clinch. Locke was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Las tries to clinch but Locke moves out of range. It looked like Locke wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Las tries to clinch up. Las moves to clinch but Locke breaks away and Locke counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That has opened up Rem Las's cut even more. Las tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Locke paws at him with a jab and circles away. Locke circles away from the clinch attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Locke on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Las moves to clinch but Locke breaks away and Las takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Las fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Locke circles away from the clinch attempt and Locke counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Las out cold! What a finish! Locke is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Locke!
