PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ezekiel Horne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Weber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weber has chosen Kanye West-Only One as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ezekiel Horne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Weber!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weber looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Weber blocks the strikes from Horne.
Weber seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Horne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Weber has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Horne works to full guard.
Weber has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Horne is proving hard to escape from.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Weber has eaten all the pies!
Horne will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Weber feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weber can do anything to dispel that myth.
Weber is looking to stand up but Horne isn't so interested in that idea.

Weber is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Weber wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Horne manages to pass to side control.
Horne looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Horne thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Weber shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Weber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Horne wants to sweep but no luck.

Weber is working an open guard so Horne takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Weber tries to close the distance and clinch up but Horne swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Weber is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Horne manages to get to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Horne's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Weber pushes Horne off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Horne shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Weber counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Weber.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Horne stands and steps away. Weber gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Weber tries to clinch but Horne moves out of range.
Horne tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Weber manages to circle out of the way.

Weber throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Horne tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Weber is in Horne's guard.
Weber is breathing heavily.

Weber has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Horne is proving hard to escape from.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Horne pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Weber back to the cage. Horne follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Horne moves into the clinch successfully.

Horne is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
Weber wants to stand up but Horne is controlling the position.
Weber wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Horne uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Horne is standing up over Weber. Weber looks to escape but Horne dives into side control.
Horne looks up at the clock and then as Weber takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Horne smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Horne is putting a hurting on Weber here, landing some big shots from side control.
Weber wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Horne decides to stand up, so the ref orders Weber to his feet.
Weber takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Horne throws a right and a left that Weber avoids nicely.

Horne instigates a clinch.

Weber gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Weber is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Weber prevents Horne from improving his position.
Weber tries to stand and escape but Horne actually recovers to full guard.

Weber wants to stand but Horne has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Horne gets to his feet - Weber follows without any prompting.
