Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by The Movement. Hardy has chosen Ambitionz Az A Ridah as his entrance music. Andre Hardy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. 21 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Hardy! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hardy comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Peterson forces Hardy back against the cage and clinches. Peterson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hardy is keeping busy. Peterson is trying to pull guard but Hardy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Peterson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. No luck with that takedown attempt from Peterson. Peterson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Peterson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hardy circles away. Patrick Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Peterson. Hardy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hardy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hardy sitting and controlling from the half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hardy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hardy working for a guillotine from mount but Peterson is in no mood to give up. Hardy looking to control and managing it successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peterson doesn't manage to clinch there - Hardy circles away.
Hardy has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Peterson is landing a low percentage of strikes. Peterson gets caught flat footed, as Hardy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hardy throws an elbow that misses. Peterson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hardy's guard. Nice move by Peterson!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hardy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hardy is pulling down on Peterson's head. It's preventing any offense from Peterson, at least for the moment. Peterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Patrick Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Peterson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hardy checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hardy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Peterson. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Peterson. Peterson did well to prevent Hardy getting side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardy tries to pass to full mount but Peterson defends it. Hardy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Peterson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Peterson. Peterson looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hardy throws a series of punches but Peterson moves out of range. Hardy works Peterson's body with a nice hook. Hardy moves out of range of the leg kick from Peterson. Peterson with a poor takedown and Hardy counters with a straight right hand. Hardy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Peterson can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy is staying tight to Peterson's torso, preventing him from escaping. Peterson is trying to control Hardy's posture but Hardy avoids it. Hardy decides to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Hardy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Hardy stands up from Peterson's guard - Hardy perhaps looking for a knockout. Hardy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Peterson! Andre Hardy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy controls the position. Peterson looking for a sweep but Hardy has passed into full mount! Oh no! Hardy looking to control and managing it successfully. Hardy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. More stalling from Hardy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peterson is desperately trying to improve his position but Hardy has a good base and remains in mount. Patrick Peterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hardy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that's the end of the fight! Andre Hardy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hardy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
