Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnson Tanner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robort Ross! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ross closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tanner did well to prevent Ross getting side control. Tanner is staying active underneath Ross, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Tanner is looking to improve his position.
Ross seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tanner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Tanner is trying to maintain the position but Ross is very close to passing his half guard. Tanner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanner desperately trying to maintain half guard. Ross sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tanner defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanner won't allow Ross to pass to mount.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ross throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tanner fires out a quick counter leg kick but Ross just manages to avoid it. Ross is looking to clinch. Ross moves into the clinch. Ross manages to break the clinch.
Ross clinches up against the cage. Ross pulls guard successfully.
Tanner content to stall in guard here. Tanner stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ross scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Tanner fails with a takedown attempt. A nice side step and Ross releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Ross drives through with a takedown into Tanner's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Tanner keeping moving, preventing Ross from controlling successfully. Ross stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tanner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ross must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tanner is trying to control the position but Ross postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tanner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tanner has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ross looking to control.
Tanner trying to control the position from guard on top but Ross is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Ross preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ross is trying to control the position but Tanner postures up. Tanner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ross pulls Tanner in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ross bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Tanner sneaks back into half guard. Tanner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ross in particular looking to stall. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tanner blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robort Ross dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Ross closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Ross manages to break the clinch.
Ross tries to clinch but Tanner moves out of range. Robort Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ross has picked Tanner up - he's going for a ride! Ross dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Tanner is looking for a sweep. Ross is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Robort Ross has got the better of the ground game so far. Ross thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ross not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanner wants to control but Ross passes into side.
Ross content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Ross taking a break here but Tanner is having none of it and regains half guard. Ross seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tanner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ross not landing any meaningful shots this time. Ross throwing shots but Tanner is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tanner is trying to control but Ross manages to pass to mount!
Ross trying to control but Tanner is having none of it. Ross cracks Tanner with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Ross tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Tanner tries to lock up and control but Ross gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ross misses with a head shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Ross there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Ross misses with a head shot. Ross punching from mount but Tanner doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ross sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ross tries to stand up but Tanner had a hold of his arm and he's managed to perform a nice reversal, into half guard. Ross manages to get to full guard.
Tanner prevents Ross from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tanner distracts Ross with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ross is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Well, if Ross is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ross is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tanner defends it well. Ross has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tanner wants to sweep but Ross has passed to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robort Ross showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Ross lands a jab to the head.
Ross works over Tanner's head and body with a nice combination. Ross wants to clinch up but Tanner keeps it at a distance. Tanner is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ross sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ross throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Tanner is rocked! Ross gets the takedown into side control. Oh Tanner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ross is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tanner will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ross has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Ross dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Tanner has had enough and taps out.
