Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Treborn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pounamu Akona!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Treborn is predictable there
and Akona counters with a nice double leg into side control. Treborn won't be happy with that.
Akona wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Treborn, who protects the arm well.
We've been hearing good reports from Treborn's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Treborn taking a bit of punishment here - Akona scoring with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akona tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Akona takes a little break here. Treborn wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Akona is trying to get an arm triangle but Treborn is defending well.
Akona is looking to take a break and control but Treborn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Akona is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Treborn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Akona wants to control but Treborn is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Treborn tries to buck Akona off but Akona is having none of it.

Akona has an Americana. Treborn didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Akona is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Akona hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Pounamu Akona!
Pounamu Akona really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that FJCP Healthy Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
