Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fred Smoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Smoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Butler!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butler drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smoot tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Butler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Smoot striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Smoot is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Butler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smoot keeps working.
Smoot might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
You can see the frustration on Smoot's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smoot is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Butler's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Smoot wants to improve his position but Butler is controlling well.
Butler is trying to control the action in half guard but Smoot is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smoot. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fred Smoot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Butler darts in and clinches Smoot up against the cage.

A nice inside leg kick there by Butler. That's going to slow Smoot down.

Butler's corner calls for a 1-2. Butler obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Butler moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Fred Smoot has been cut.

and Butler counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Smoot throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Butler blocks it with crossed arms.

Butler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice shot lands for Butler.

Butler feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Smoot's calf.

Butler scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Butler lands a jab-cross combination.
Butler stuns Smoot with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Smoot dodges the punch combination from Butler.
Smoot wants to clinch but Butler slips to the side

and Butler moves into the clinch.
Butler is pushing Smoot up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Smoot just misses with a elbow thrown towards Butler's brow.
Butler stalls.

Butler breaks the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smoot tries to keep at a distance but Butler has taken the fight into the clinch.

Butler turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Butler fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Smoot tries to clinch up

and Butler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smoot's guard.

Smoot pushes off an throws an elbow but Butler leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

and Butler counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smoot thinking.

Butler fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smoot sprawls well initially but Butler persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Smoot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Butler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Butler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smoot changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Butler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Smoot is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Butler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smoot works to advance to full mount. Butler defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
