Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shon Sweet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Shon Sweet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Jones!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweet stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sweet wants it to stay on the feet.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Sweet shows good takedown defense.
Jones throws a head kick but Sweet moves out of range.
Sweet displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Sweet appears to be looking for a big counter.
Shon Sweet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Jones.
Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones.


It looks like Shon Sweet has been cut.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sweet sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones tries to clinch up
and Sweet counters with a series of strikes. Jones will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A head kick by Jones misses
and Sweet counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Sweet to acknowledge the strikes.
Sweet takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Sweet drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Sweet gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.
Sweet changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Sweet checks a leg kick.
Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Sweet counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.
Sweet has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sweet wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.
Sweet scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Sweet throwing strikes but missing.
Sweet controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sweet missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sweet seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sweet has taken the fight to the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Jones wants to break free but Sweet has control.

Jones jumps guard and drags Sweet to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sweet trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Sweet won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sweet avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Sweet could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sweet is stalling in the full guard.
Sweet prevents Jones from getting back to his feet.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sweet tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sweet attempts a counter takedown but Jones avoids it well and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Sweet has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jones jumps guard.

Sweet gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sweet tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sweet to the ground. Sweet escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sweet avoids the head kick by Jones.
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Sweet counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sweet controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sweet avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sweet showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

Sweet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Sweet pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.
Shon Sweet is winning the standup battle so far.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sweet swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sweet feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Sweet changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sweet slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones pulls Sweet in close to prevent any damage.
Sweet controlling from the top position.

Sweet drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones!

Jones tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sweet is looking for a sweep.
Sweet knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Sweet is trying to get back to his feet.
Sweet tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sweet, who protects the arm well.
Sweet is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sweet rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sweet tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Sweet is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?

Sweet is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well.
Jones is working to avoid the ground and pound but Sweet connects with a decent elbow.
Jones tries to buck Sweet off but Sweet is having none of it.

Sweet is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Sweet thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sweet tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones being controlled for a moment.
Jones wants to control but Sweet postures up.

Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jones struggling a bit here.
Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sweet haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sweet tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sweet has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jones pushes Sweet away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sweet gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sweet misses with a jab, cross combination.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Sweet sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shon Sweet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Jones.
Jones tries to clinch but Sweet moves out of range.
Jones throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jones is looking to clinch but Sweet is avoiding it.
Sweet half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sweet circles away.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
It looked like Sweet was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Sweet has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
