The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitters moves in looking to clinch but Cottingham pushes him off.
Bitters stuffs the takedown.
Bitters buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Bitters tries to clinch but Cottingham moves out of range.
Cottingham looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bitters tries to counter by clinching up but Cottingham breaks away and moves out of range.
Bitters tries to close the distance and clinch but Cottingham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bitters gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cottingham blocking some punches.
Bitters lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cottingham dodges an elbow strike from Bitters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cottingham takes an elbow to the forehead.
Bitters lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cottingham backwards.
Bitters lands with a left to the head.
Bitters has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cottingham after a bit of a struggle.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bitters.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bitters works on Cottingham's body with a couple of short punches.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bitters works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Bitters has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bitters with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cottingham is rocked!
Bitters postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Cottingham covers up, he's hurt! Bitters keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Bitters and the ref steps in to end the fight! Bitters can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
