The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Oppelaar with that takedown attempt. Callaghan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Callaghan catches Oppelaar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Callaghan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Callaghan misses with the combination.

A slow jab from Oppelaar misses its intended target. Callaghan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Oppelaar paws at him with a jab and circles away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Oppelaar! But no joy. Oppelaar misses with a straight left. Oppelaar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Oppelaar throws the left hand but Callaghan avoids the punch easily. Oppelaar drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Callaghan is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Callaghan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Oppelaar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Oppelaar decides to stand back up. Oppelaar steps back and let's Callaghan get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oppelaar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oppelaar lands an overhand right. Callaghan moves into the clinch. Callaghan blocks a body shot from Oppelaar. Callaghan misses with a knee strike.
Oppelaar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Callaghan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Oppelaar manages to avoid it. Oppelaar dodges the punch combination from Callaghan.
Oppelaar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Richard Callaghan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oppelaar thuds his shin into the meat of Callaghan's side. Oppelaar misses with a hook. Callaghan ducked under it nicely. Callaghan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Oppelaar back to the cage. Callaghan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Callaghan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Oppelaar.
This has been an exciting period of action! Oppelaar misses the shot to the body. Callaghan throws a big counter combination but Oppelaar scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Oppelaar misses with a straight left. Callaghan connects with a superb combination that knocks Oppelaar out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Callaghan before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Oppelaar!
