Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaimaa Fatu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatenda Ihejirika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fatu comes to the cage accompanied by So Close Now. Vaimaa Fatu could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tatenda Ihejirika's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vaimaa Fatu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tatenda Ihejirika! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ihejirika tests Fatu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Vaimaa Fatu has been cut. Ihejirika looks to score with a jab to the body but Fatu is just out of range. Fatu appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Ihejirika fakes the leg kick and cracks Fatu in the body. Ihejirika lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fatu circles away quickly and effectively. Fatu seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Fatu slaps away a takedown attempt from Ihejirika, before circling back to the center of the mat. No joy there for Ihejirika, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fatu moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Tatenda Ihejirika has been cut. Ihejirika fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Ihejirika swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Fatu counters with a good low kick that Ihejirika was not able to check. Fatu doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Ihejirika misses with a two punch combination.
Fatu appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Ihejirika fails to land with a series of punches.
A little feinted left hand from Fatu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ihejirika fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's one minute gone in the round. Ihejirika fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fatu manages to avoid it. Fatu tries to counter with a takedown but Ihejirika is quick to defend against it. Fatu on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Ihejirika keeps Fatu at a distance using the push kick. Ihejirika throws a right and a left that both miss. Fatu is looking for a counter combo. Fatu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ihejirika misses with a left hand and Fatu counters with a three punch combo that has Ihejirika backing up. Ihejirika nods at Fatu to acknowledge the strikes. Fatu works over Ihejirika's head and body with a nice combination. Ihejirika misses with a head kick.
Tatenda Ihejirika seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ihejirika throws a series of punches but Fatu avoids them all with ease. Ihejirika looks to score with a jab to the body but Fatu is just out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Ihejirika tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fatu was well out of range. Poor timing from Ihejirika. It looked like Fatu was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Fatu moves forwards but Ihejirika connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ihejirika is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fatu's half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ihejirika controlling the action here. Fatu is looking for a sweep. Ihejirika is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ihejirika looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fatu wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ihejirika working for a submission but Fatu is keeping him at bay. Fatu is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Ihejirika wants to control the pace but Fatu is squirming around nicely. Fatu tries to hold on but Ihejirika pushes him away. Ihejirika sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Ihejirika landing strikes from the mount. The referee warns Fatu that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ihejirika pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Ihejirika has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ihejirika with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Vaimaa Fatu's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Tatenda Ihejirika! Our winner, Tatenda Ihejirika, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
