Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Troy Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bil Nye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nye has chosen LINE as his entrance music. Bil Nye has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Troy Santos's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Troy Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bil Nye!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nye has his takedown stuffed
and Santos counters with an inside leg kick.
Nye looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Nye looks for a takedown but Santos sprawls well.

Santos clinches up against the cage.
We've been informed that Nye has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Nye tries to land a knee to the head but Santos blocks with his arms.
Nye letting Santos take a breather here.
Nye takes a knee to the side of the body.

Santos gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nye regains guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nye has a closed guard, preventing Santos from standing up.

Santos gets to his feet - Nye follows without any prompting.

Nye shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Troy Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bil Nye.

Santos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Santos connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nye some visible discomfort.

Nye regains half guard there - taking advantage of Santos's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Santos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nye does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Santos throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Nye to regain full guard.
Santos works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Still in half guard, Santos seems content to control.
Santos wants to control but Nye is keeping him busy.

Santos not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nye keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Santos tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Nye.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Nye tries to keep at a distance but Santos has taken the fight into the clinch.
Santos is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Santos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nye tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Santos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nye manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Santos has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nye is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Santos rushes Nye and presses him up against the cage.
Santos tries for a takedown but Nye manages to get underhooks.
Santos digs a right hand into Nye's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Nye's gas tank.

Santos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nye looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santos is fending him off so far but Nye persists. Nope, Santos circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nye doesn't seem bothered though.
Santos moves in looking to clinch but Nye pushes him off.

Santos manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nye on his heels. He'll look to pass Nye's guard now, I'm sure.

Nye is breathing heavily.

Troy Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Santos trying to control but Nye is working from the bottom.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Santos closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nye's guard.
Santos wants to stand and escape but instead Nye has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Santos is trying to control Nye's posture but Nye avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nye is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Nye presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Santos shoots in and bounces Nye off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nye can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bil Nye seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Santos throws a head kick that half lands.
Nye shoots in but no luck this time.
Santos tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nye manages to circle out of the way.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nye enables Santos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nye manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Nye wants to get back to his feet but Santos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nye on the ground.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Santos is looking to work some ground and pound but Nye has wrist control.

Santos wants to get up but he can't break Nye's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Santos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nye looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nye looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nye!

A control attempt from Santos but he's now mounted!
Santos tries to hold on but Nye pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos is trying desperately to improve position.
Bil Nye has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Troy Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Santos really wants to buck Nye off and get back to his feet.

Well Santos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
