Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bender Rodriguez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug McSwain! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McSwain defending well as Rodriguez loads up on a big left hand. McSwain uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez with a hook. McSwain misses with an uppercut. McSwain is looking to clinch. Rodriguez connects with a good right hand that stumbles McSwain. McSwain circles away out of range and recomposes himself. McSwain misses with a jab, cross combination.
Left hook, right uppercut from Rodriguez. Rodriguez looks to score with a jab to the body but McSwain is just out of range. Rodriguez bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McSwain's head. Rodriguez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McSwain at a distance.
Rodriguez connects with a right hand. McSwain shakes it off. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A lazy left from Rodriguez finds it's target. McSwain gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rodriguez. Rodriguez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McSwain misses with a hook to the body
and Rodriguez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rodriguez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Bender Rodriguez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. McSwain keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McSwain throws a hook but Rodriguez avoids it easily. McSwain misses with a hook. McSwain looks to land a right hand but Rodriguez moved out of range. McSwain moves in looking to clinch but Rodriguez pushes him off. McSwain has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. McSwain avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Rodriguez scores with a nice head shot.
McSwain is rocked! McSwain walks straight into a right hand from Rodriguez - that's dropped him! Rodriguez jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save McSwain from any more punishment! McSwain complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bender Rodriguez!
