PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dragon Slayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devin Styles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Styles has chosen Wrecking Ball as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Devin Styles was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dragon Slayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devin Styles!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Styles thows a left - swing and a miss!
A shot to the liver by Styles. Beautiful body shot.
The crowd cheers as Styles lands an impressive looking overhand right. Slayer doesn't seem phased though.
Slayer misses with an uppercut
and Styles counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Styles scores with a leg kick.

Styles works Slayer's body with a nice hook.

Slayer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Styles has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Slayer is landing a low percentage of strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Styles lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Slayer bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Slayer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Styles manages to avoid it.

Some bone on bone action there as Slayer checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Slayer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Slayer swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Styles connects with a body shot that sends Slayer's belly button to the back.
Styles rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Slayer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Slayer was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Styles blocks a head kick by Slayer.
Styles cracks a nice hook into Slayer's ribs.
Slayer throws a push kick but Styles slaps the foot to one side.

Slayer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Styles bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Despite the aggression on Styles's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Slayer checks the leg kick.
Slayer slips a straight right by Styles.
Slayer throws a lazy uppercut
and Styles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Styles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Styles loads up on a big right hand but Slayer slips the punch.
Styles throws an overhand right that lands on Slayer's shoulder, as Slayer tries to avoid the shot.

Slayer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Styles was well out of range. Poor timing from Slayer.

Styles tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Slayer is able to avoid easily.
Styles ducks right into an uppercut from Slayer.

Styles works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Styles, as that shot connected.

and Styles counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Styles.
Styles makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Slayer wants to hit a switch here but Styles passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Slayer there!

Slayer is trying to escape the mount.
Slayer slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Slayer is looking to control Styles's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slayer avoid being mounted?

Styles misses with a head shot. Slayer uses the momentum to regain guard.
Styles trying to control the position from guard on top but Slayer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Slayer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Styles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Slayer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Styles content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Styles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Slayer is trying to keep Styles in close.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Styles connects with a good right hand that stumbles Slayer. Slayer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Slayer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Styles takes a step back to recover.

The fighters circling - Slayer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Styles throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Slayer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Devin Styles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Devin Styles.
