Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Agenor Apolinario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Westphal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Apolinario comes into the arena with Northeast Strawberry blaring out of the sound system. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Agenor Apolinario! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Martin Westphal! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Apolinario shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Westphal but Westphal pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've been hearing reports that Apolinario has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Apolinario shoots in looking for a takedown. Westphal tries to sprawl out of it but Apolinario keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Westphal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! A left and a right from Westphal both land. Nice combination. Some wild striking there from Westphal.
Apolinario fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agenor Apolinario. That's going to take a lot out of him. Westphal swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Westphal misses with a two punch combination.
Westphal lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Apolinario drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Apolinario looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Apolinario tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Westphal struggling a bit here. Westphal is working to avoid the ground and pound but Apolinario connects with a decent elbow. Apolinario tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Apolinario has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Westphal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Apolinario. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Westphal sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Apolinario is pressing down on Westphal's thigh, looking to free his foot. Westphal is holding on for now. Apolinario thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Westphal's head. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Apolinario is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Westphal tries to kick Apolinario off but Apolinario keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Apolinario is trying to control the action in half guard but Westphal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Westphal is looking to control Apolinario's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Westphal avoid being mounted? Apolinario seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Westphal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Westphal wants to get back to full guard but Apolinario has mounted him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Apolinario thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Apolinario thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Apolinario trying to control but Westphal is having none of it. Apolinario is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Westphal is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Apolinario unloads with some shots from mount but Westphal bucks and avoids them well.
Apolinario has control of Westphal's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Westphal regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Apolinario controlling the pace for now. Westphal is trying to escape the mount.
Apolinario quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Apolinario but it's paid off an Westphal is forced to tap! Nice work by Apolinario.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Agenor Apolinario! In his post fight interview, Agenor Apolinario gave a big smile as he said 'Porque Homem não Chora'.
