With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mohammed Babak!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Irbek Alborov!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babak misses with a double jab

and Alborov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Alborov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Babak wants to get back to full guard.
Babak on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Babak tries to get out of the position.

Babak has hold of Alborov's hands but Alborov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Babak looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Babak throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Alborov tries to bum rush Babak with a series of wild strikes but Babak uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alborov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Mohammed Babak has been cut.
Babak wants to clinch.
Alborov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Alborov swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Babak.
Nice sprawl there from Babak as Alborov shoots in.

Babak moves into the clinch successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alborov is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Babak manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Alborov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Babak tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Alborov is in Babak's guard.

Babak wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Alborov is now in half guard.
Babak moves into full guard.
Alborov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Alborov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Babak is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Alborov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Babak looks a forlorn figure.

Babak is bucking up trying to escape but Alborov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Alborov lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Babak! Alborov sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Babak and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Irbek Alborov!

An out of breath Irbek Alborov thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Mohammed Babak had this to say: 'I am very impressed by Kaspars performance, but I will work my way up again, for sure.'.
