Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Smithing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smithing's entrance music is Shooting Stars. A fine choice. The key to victory for John Smithing has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Green! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smithing leaves Green with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Green with a lazy takedown attempt and Smithing counters with a nice uppercut. Green is looking to clinch but Smithing is avoiding it.
An attempted straight right counter from Smithing misses the target. A big right from Green misses. Green darts in looking for a takedown but Smithing gets double underhooks and turns Green into the cage. John Smithing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Green. Smithing defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Green. Smithing stuffs a takedown. Smithing goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Smithing lands a right hook to the body.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smithing passes Green's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Green felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smithing seems to be looking for submissions.
