Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sergio Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Timothy Poggle!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Winston Howard and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poggle lands a nice shot to the body.
Poggle lands a lovely overhand right.
Poggle misses with a low kick.
Pettis moves out of range as Poggle throws a body kick.
Pettis drops down looking for a counter takedown but Poggle sprawls and moves away.
Pettis drops his hands momentarily and Poggle takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Poggle stuffs the takedown attempt from Pettis. Pettis gets slowly back to his feet.
An inside leg kick lands from Poggle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Pettis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poggle is looking for a sweep.
Pettis misses with the ground and pound.
Poggle felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Pettis is trying to get an arm triangle but Poggle is defending well.

Pettis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

It looks like Sergio Pettis has been cut.
Pettis moves out of range of the leg kick from Poggle.
Timothy Poggle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Poggle attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Poggle throws a lazy uppercut

and Pettis counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Pettis looking to sit in guard and control but Poggle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Poggle is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Poggle's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Pettis looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Poggle has picked Pettis up and slammed him! Pettis can't keep hold of the triangle and Poggle manages to pass to side control!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A looping hook to the body misses from Poggle. Pettis does a little dance to reset his feet.

Pettis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Some bone on bone action there as Pettis checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Poggle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pettis momentarily.

Pettis shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Poggle fakes the leg kick and cracks Pettis in the body.

Pettis swings around for an armbar but Poggle sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pettis's guard.

Poggle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pettis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Poggle has managed to get both his arms back between Pettis's legs - danger averted.
Poggle lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Pettis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Poggle is nestled in close to Pettis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
