PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Ronman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kemba Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronman comes into the arena with It's A Fight blaring out of the sound system. Bob Ronman has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Ronman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kemba Walker!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ronman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Ronman moves into the clinch successfully.
Walker is working for takedown but Ronman is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ronman tries to stall but Walker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Walker drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bob Ronman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kemba Walker.
Walker drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ronman pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ronman moves in looking to clinch but Walker pushes him off.
Walker changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
A jab lands there for Ronman.
Ronman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Walker as he avoids it easily.

Ronman just leaning against Walker, taking a breather.

Ronman jumps guard.
Ronman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Walker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Walker prevents Ronman from getting back to his feet.
Ronman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace.

Ronman has Walker pulled in close to control his posture.
Ronman is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Ronman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ronman tries to get out of the position.
Walker wants to control from the top but Ronman keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Walker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ronman haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ronman shoots in but Walker avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Walker tries to keep at a distance but Ronman has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ronman prevents the takedown attempt.
Walker has Ronman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ronman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Ronman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ronman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ronman has control of Walker's left arm, preventing Walker from doing any damage.

Ronman wants to stand but Walker is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ronman is on top in guard.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ronman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Walker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

so Walker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Walker prevents Ronman from getting back to his feet.
Ronman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ronman tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Walker is not content to let Ronman control the position.

Walker wants to improve his position but Ronman is controlling well.

Walker desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ronman tries to stand and escape but Walker is controlling the position.
Walker is staying active underneath Ronman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ronman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ronman is trying to control. Walker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Walker has his foot on Ronman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ronman works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Walker shoots for a takedown but Ronman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ronman.
Walker tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Ronman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walker defends it nicely.
Walker drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ronman defends it well.

Walker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ronman to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ronman tries to stand but Walker is controlling from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Walker is on top in guard.

Walker won't allow Ronman to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walker trying to control but Ronman is working from the bottom.
Ronman wants to stand but Walker is controlling the position.
Ronman controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.
Walker slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ronman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Walker, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bob Ronman will probably get the nod.
That's time! Ronman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Walker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ronman did well to prevent Walker getting side control.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura but Ronman is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bob Ronman.
Well Ronman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
