Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ed Frettish! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hit Run! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frettish connects with a looping right hand.
Frettish cracks a nice hook into Run's ribs. Frettish moves out of range as Run strikes. Run shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Frettish counters with a straight right hand. Frettish moves into the clinch. Run is trying to pull guard but Frettish turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Run fails to pull guard.
Ed Frettish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hit Run. Run jumps into guard, dragging Frettish to the mat.
Frettish engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Run is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Frettish sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Run looking for a guillotine here but Frettish defends easily.
Run is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frettish is aware though and is defending well. Run controls Frettish momentarily but Frettish frees himself. Frettish tries to free his leg and advance position but Run is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Frettish showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Frettish definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Run is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frettish is aware though and is defending well. Frettish is looking to work some ground and pound but Run has wrist control. Run is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Frettish won't allow Run to sweep him here. Frettish is stalling in the full guard. Run looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Run is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Frettish stopping the sweep attempt from Run. Frettish sitting in guard here, content to control. Frettish trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Run is looking to cinch up a triangle. Frettish throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Run's body to avoid the submission. Run has instead reached around Frettish's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Run arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
