The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gusa swats away the attempt to clinch by Scott.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gusa.
Gusa dodges the punch combination from Scott.
Scott throws a series of punches but Gusa avoids them all with ease.
Gusa throws a head kick that misses.
Scott fails to land with a series of punches.
Scott throws a right hand that Gusa ducks under and follows up with a left that Gusa also avoids with ease.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gusa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gusa fails to land with a series of punches.
Scott misses with a two punch combination.
Scott moves out of range of the body kick.
Gusa will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Gusa wants to clinch up but Scott keeps it at a distance.

Gusa keeps control of Scott as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gusa unloads a knee to the mid-section. Scott lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Gusa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Scott avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Gusa content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Gusa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Scott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gusa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gusa scoring well with a low kick there.
Scott looks to land a combination but Gusa avoids it well.
Scott throws a series of punches but Gusa avoids them all with ease.
Scott misses with a combination
and Gusa counters with a head kick. That will keep Scott thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gusa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Gusa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gusa.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gusa wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Gusa slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Scott.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gusa stops Scott from getting back to his feet.
Scott tries to kick Gusa off in order to stand up. Gusa Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott is pushing Gusa's head away, looking to escape. Gusa manages to hold on to the position though.
Scott looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Scott throws up some feeble strikes from the bottom. Gusa smiles and locks on to an arm, pivoting beautifully as he drops to the side for an armbar. Scott tries momentarily to escape but he knows he's done and taps furiously to avoid injury. Confident submission skills displayed there by Gusa.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Milan Gusa!
