PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hussak Claw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dusty Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dusty Martin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hussak Claw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dusty Martin!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Hemmingworth and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin connects with a crisp jab.
Martin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Claw was well out of range. Poor timing from Martin.
Claw tries to counter with a takedown but Martin is quick to defend against it.
Martin just misses with a punch to the body.
Claw attempts a counter takedown but Martin avoids it well and moves away.
Martin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Claw tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Claw looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Martin feints and then cracks Claw's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Claw down.
Martin misses with a wild body shot.
Martin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Claw shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Martin but Martin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martin tries to sprawl but Claw drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Martin is looking for a sweep. Claw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Claw is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Martin defends it well.
Martin is trying to control but can't.
Martin tries to get to full guard but Claw has control of the leg.
Claw working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Martin's thigh. Martin counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Martin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Claw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Claw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Martin looking for a sweep. Not yet Martin, not yet.
Claw postures up in Martin's guard and throws a big left but Martin blocks it.
Claw throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Claw throws a strike but Martin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Claw pulls Martin in close to his closed guard and prevents Martin from doing any damage or advancing position.
Claw is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Claw trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Martin postures up and lands a big shot to Claw's brow.
Claw pulls Martin in close to prevent any damage.
Claw has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.
Claw is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Claw looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Martin passes into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Claw tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Martin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Claw can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Martin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Claw, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dusty Martin dominated that round.
That's time! Claw's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Martin lands with a kick to the ribs.
Claw takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A solid leg kick lands there for Martin.
Martin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Claw's head.
Claw tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Martin defends well and Claw ends up having to push Martin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Martin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin thumps Claw with a low kick.
Martin explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Martin connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Hussak Claw has been cut.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Martin. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Martin misses the shot to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Martin. No joy for Claw on that attempt.
Martin was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Martin moves into range and clinches up with Claw.
Claw is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hussak Claw. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Martin can't find room to land a body shot as Claw controls the action.

Martin can't get the takedown.
Martin is pressed up against the cage. Claw has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Martin down to the mat. Martin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Martin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Claw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Claw looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Martin sizes up Claw with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Martin throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dusty Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Claw if he has to take too many more of those.
Claw shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense.
Dusty Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Donk. Martin catches Claw right on the button with a cross.
Claw shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martin defends it nicely.
Martin thuds his shin into the meat of Claw's side.
Martin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Claw.
Martin scores with a shot to the body.

Martin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Horrible takedown attempt by Claw or perhaps it was just good defense by Martin, which made it look bad.

and Claw counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Claw wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Claw is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Martin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Claw gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Martin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Claw lets go of the hold and Martin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hussak Claw!
Our winner, Hussak Claw, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
