Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vito Gill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emilio McCann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCann has chosen Run the Jewels - Get It as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCann throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gill was covering up waiting for the punch and McCann finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McCann makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Gill is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gill is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McCann is aware though and is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCann looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gill wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCann is looking for a kimura but Gill is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McCann to get the leverage.
Gill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gill slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Gill has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gill is pulling down on McCann's head to control his posture.
McCann lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gill had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCann defends it easily.

Gill shoots for a takedown but McCann saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Gill dives in for a single leg takedown but McCann sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Gill darts in looking for a takedown but McCann gets double underhooks and turns Gill into the cage.

McCann throws a sloppy head kick and Gill moves out of range easily.

Gill tries to sprawl but McCann drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gill is not content to let McCann control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McCann lands a nice short elbow.

McCann looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gill has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCann is working away from the top position though.

Gill wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gill escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gill avoids a punch combination nicely.

McCann leaves Gill with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gill shoots in looking for a takedown. McCann tries to sprawl out of it but Gill keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McCann manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Despite the aggression on McCann's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
McCann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gill.
Gill is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gill shoots in and drives through. McCann sprawls well.
McCann looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Gill throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McCann's waist but McCann gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gill off to one side.
McCann misses with a double jab.
Gill shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCann but McCann pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McCann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McCann stuffs the takedown attempt from Gill. Gill gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McCann looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McCann wants to pass to mount but Gill is defending the position.
Gill is trying to maintain the position but McCann is very close to passing his half guard.
McCann working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McCann connects with a nice short shot to Gill's temple.
Gill has hold of McCann's hands but McCann slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Oh Gill is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McCann scores with a big shot! Gill's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Gill! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
