Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cornell Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cornell Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Felipe Santos! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Santos lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Cook stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Santos. Cook swats away the attempt to clinch by Santos. Santos swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cook counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Santos thinking. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santos fails with the takedown and Cook counters with a lovely shot to the body. Santos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos with a poor takedown and Cook counters by moving into the clinch. Cook slows down the pace here.

Cook scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Santos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. It looked like Cook was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Santos looks to score with a jab to the body but Cook is just out of range. Santos shoots in but Cook avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cornell Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Santos.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos throws a leg kick but Cook moved away. Sloppy strikes from Santos. Those never looked like landing. Santos throws a series of punches but Cook moves out of range. Santos clinches up against the cage. Cook slowing the pace effectively. Cook wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Cook is struggling to control the position. Cook tries to pull guard but Santos won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos taking a breather. Santos looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Cook lands a hook to the side of the head. Cook slowing the pace effectively. Santos wants to get back to striking at distance but Cook won't allow it.
Cook jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Santos walks away with a smile on his face. Cook gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Felipe Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santos bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cook's head backwards.
It looks like Cornell Cook has been cut. Santos closes the distance and clinches up with Cook, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes Cook against the cage but Cook circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cook pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Cook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Santos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cook throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Cook is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cook is pushing Santos's head away, looking to escape. Santos manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Santos misses with the ground and pound. Santos tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Felipe Santos will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Cornell Cook's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

Cornell Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Santos. Some wild striking there from Santos.

Cook thinks about countering with a head kick. Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cook tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cook to the ground. Cook escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Santos throws a big shot that misses. Cook looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cook gets to his feet - Santos follows without any prompting. Santos misses with a takedown and Cook counters with a nice kick to the body. Santos is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A combination from Santos does no damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Santos. Santos throws a solid leg kick but Cook takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Santos. Santos moves into range and clinches up with Cook. Cook breaks the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Santos manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cook on his heels. He'll look to pass Cook's guard now, I'm sure. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cook throwing short punches from the bottom. Cook really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Santos has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cook is proving hard to escape from. Cook is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Santos is aware though and is defending well. Cook has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Santos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Santos postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Felipe Santos. I think Santos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
